Our Story
El Zocalo Supermarket was founded in 2002 as a small general store before moving to its much larger (15K sq ft) current location at 452 US Hwy 17-92 N, Haines City, FL in 2010. The larger space provides a full showcase of Latin American food and flavors from Mexico, Central and South America as well from throughout the Caribbean. We specialize in representing each of these regions in our different departments located throughout the store. We offer hot food in our large kitchen dining area prepared daily, freshly baked goods and colorful desserts are made in our onsite bakery, fresh tortillas are made in the tortaria located inside the store and our large butcher specializes in fresh cuts and spiced meats from different Latin Cuisines and some of our own creation in store. The supermarket offers a full line of grocery items representing individual countries goods and includes cookware, frozen goods, dry goods and fresh produce. There is an abundance of rice, fruit and spices to prepare the perfect meal be it Mexican, Dominican or Colombian style. We source our goods from suppliers who specialize in Latin American products and offer a wide variety of choices representing the different cuisines and cooking styles of many countries.
El Zocalo Supermarket is brightly colored, well lit, clean and with good signage to direct you to the products you are seeking. Our staff are well trained and bilingual and there to offer you a happy, fun and memorable experience. It is a unique place to shop where you can buy products 'to go' or enjoy a seat at one of our many tables in the dining area to take in all the sights, sounds and smells of the culture while enjoying a delicious meal. In addition to this store there is another store located in Avon Park, El Zocalo Food market offering many of the same goods and services. Next door in the adjoining plaza there is Zocalo Fish Market & Grill which is a fresh fish market offering a full line of shell fish and fresh fish cuts or entire fish for purchase from the market and full line of frozen packaged products. Next to the market is our Grill which offers a full in house menu or you can bring your market purchases to be cooked to your liking.
